Movie Review: Disturbia (2007) PDF Print E-mail
Written by Ross Cavins

ImageAlthough not an original idea (see Hitchcock: Rear Window), Disturbia has some interesting characters and plot twists.  Shia LaBeouf is a disturbed teenager who is sentenced to house arrest and witnesses (or imagines) a murder in his neighbor's house.  Befriended by a new young hottie neighbor, Sarah Roemer, they set out with his best friend to investigate.

Even though it's a plot copy of my favorite Hitchcock film ever, the director and writers did a great job of adapting the storyline to modern times.  There's plenty of suspense and tense moments and unlike most films of this genre, there aren't really any "stupid character moments" (where the girl goes into the dark basement alone with a flashlight to investigate a strange sound).

I had reservations about this movie at first but I have to admit that it was done well and very much worth watching.

Verdict:  Image

Directed by:  D.J. Caruso

Starring:  Shia LaBeouf , Sarah Roemer , Carrie-Anne Moss , David Morse , Aaron Yoo , Matt Craven , Jose Pablo Cantillo

Other Movie Sites:  IMDB , Rotten Tomatoes
