Movie Review: Superbad (2007) PDF Print E-mail
Written by Ross Cavins

ImageJudd Apatow turns out a surprising winner with this hilarious high school movie.  The characters in Superbad are indelible to the very end and make this movie work on many levels.  Their mishaps, dialogue and personalities drive the plot forward, amusing you the entire trip.

Superbad is a typical high school story, via American Pie, where three friends set out to get laid before school ends.  But this movie has something American Pie lacked, real geeks.  Dorky characters that everyone can identify with because we all knew someone just like them.  Or worse, we were them.

Although most of the main characters are high school age (and the others act that age), the movie appeals to the savviest of comedy connoisseurs.  The chemistry between the characters leaves me wanting something I never do, a sequel.

 Verdict:  Image

Directed by:  Greg Mottola

Starring: Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, Christopher Mintz-Plasse , Seth RogenMartha MacIsaac, Emma Stone
